  • A song about the life of photojournalist Sean Flynn. The son of film star Errol Flynn, Flynn was a photojournalist with Paris Match magazine, covering the Vietnam war. He became famous for his ability to get striking photos of warfare, often from areas considered off limits to journalists due to his ability to make friends with special forces troops. He disappeared in April 1970 in Vietnam, and was never seen again.
  • Almost certainly inspired by Michael Herr's book dispatches, a book that was extremely popular with The Clash according to Pat Gilbert.
  • The Rat Patrol recording of this song is 3 minutes longer, and includes a different intro and lengthy synthesizer passages not present on the Combat Rock mix.
